Qualified Electrician

Unique Hydra (Pty) Ltd, one of the world’s most prominent integrated subsea and offshore solutions providers and a leading manufacturer and supplier of deep-sea marine and commercial diving & life support equipment to the oil and gas industry, requires the services of a qualified and well-experienced Qualified Electrician.

Qualification and experience:

• National Certificate N3 Minimum and Qualified (Trade Tested) Electrician.
• 8 Years minimum in field experience in related industry (diving industry advantageous).
• Wireman’s license required.
• Code 8 Driver's License.
• Experience in wiring of distribution boards.

Key performance areas but not limited to the following:
• Assembly and installation of systems / sub-assemblies on standard products and project-based builds such as Air Dive Container Systems, SAT Systems, and components.
• Responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment including wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, and lighting fixtures, ensuring optimal performance and safety and all work complies with relevant codes and standards.
• Follow National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building regulations to ensure safe and legal installations.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical issues on electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, to identify defects and hazards using appropriate testing devices.
• Servicing rental equipment and customer owned equipment.
• Do factory acceptance testing (FAT), testing to industry standards (IMCA, 3rd Party etc.), follow instructions issued by Production Engineers / Technicians, Service Engineers, or Project Managers by means of Inspection Reports & FAT’s and coordinate with other team members and contractors to complete projects efficiently.
• Proven competence with usage of a variety of tools and equipment, such as conduit benders, wire strippers, multi-meters, hand and power tools.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs and service reports.
• Adherence to company HSE policies, procedures and work standards, compliance with all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and aid in contribution to promote a ZERO LTI environment.
• All activities must be executed in accordance with UH’s Integrated Management System (IMS) to ensure compliance to the company’s ISO accreditation.

Skills set, experience and knowledge required:
• Excellent housekeeping skills.
• Strong fault-finding capability.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings (blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical schematics).
• Must possess a demonstrated ability to working both independently and in a team environment, work under pressure and be goal oriented whilst applying attention to detail.
• Ability to work overtime when required to do so and not a clock-watcher.
• Ability to work in poor weather conditions.
• Must enjoy excellent health and able to work on heights and confined spaces. No medical conditions which might prevent you from executing your duties and be at work at required times. Must be able to stand for long periods of time performing physical tasks.
• Project related international travel might be required.
• Must have access to own reliable transport or access to public transport.
• To be efficient with regards to quality of work, completion of tasks, meeting of deadlines, and in gaining on-the-job knowledge.
• To be loyal, committed, reliable, punctual, creative, and innovative.
• To be efficient in forward planning, achieving of goals and managing duties.
• Possess good communicative skills in English i.e., ability to write and speak clearly and succinctly, and to demonstrate this in all official communications.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with Quality Control, Production and Supervisor to complete task in set time.
• Must be RSA citizen.

Remuneration will be in line with MEIBC Scale and Grading
