JOB TITLE: Cybercrime Specialist

LOCATION: Cape Town, South Africa

REMUNERATION: From R1000 p/h depending on experience, skills and qualification.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Contract

WORKING SCENARIO: Open to remote or hybrid scenarios

ABOUT THE ROLE:

A foundation is searching for a cybercrime fighting specialist to advise their research team on contemporary issues and review proposed fieldwork and academic outputs related to ‘fake celebrity endorsements.’ The specialist will work a minimum of five hours each month, and a maximum of ten, for six months. The role is expected to start in August and run until February next year.
The specialist will contribute advice on the realities of cybercrime in South Africa and ensure that the outputs reflect current digital forensic realities. If the specialist is an academic, they can also contribute as a co-author to our academic outputs.

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

The Institution raises to raise public awareness of phishing scams involving fake celebrity endorsements. They have shifted from responding to complaints to raising awareness and encouraging reporting of scams to the appropriate authorities.

MIN REQUIREMENTS:

◾ Professional experience in fighting cybercrime for a digital forensics company (or academic experience in researching and publishing on cybercrime).
◾A Masters degree in the IT field, or evidence of progress towards one
