Job Description

Vacancy: Job Services Officer - Cape Town

Salesian Institute Youth Projects (SIYP) is seeking an experienced, proficient, and dedicated Job Services Officer for our NEETS Solar Installation Training Programme. SIYP is a Cape Town-based NGO committed to the skills training and empowerment of at-risk youth.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Implement and understand project objectives for the Solar Installation Training Programme.

Maintain and develop business relationships within the solar industry.

Explore both formal and informal sectors to expand Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities.

Secure work exposure opportunities and job placements for learners. Prepare learners for workplace expectations and placements.
Provide relevant documentation to host companies.

Guide learners in building and maintaining professional profiles.

Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database of learner WIL and placement records.

Manage and monitor learners’ logbooks and specific workplace outcomes.

Report promptly according to internal and external requirements, both verbally and in writing.

Attend meetings, staff functions, and networking events as required.

Working Environment

Develop strong relationships with SIYP management and facilitators, understanding the organisational culture and needs.

Communicate effectively through verbal feedback and written reports as agreed with management.

Freedom to Act and Decision Making

Deliver the programme within outlined parameters using professional knowledge and sound judgement aligned with SIYP principles and values.

Be attuned and responsive to the specific context of the skills development sector.

Minimum Requirements

• CV with a covering letter
• Relevant experience and references
• 5 to 10 years of experience as a Job Services Officer
• Established network of partners
• Own vehicle and valid driver's license
• Willingness to travel within South Africa
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders
• Preference for multilingual applicants
