Maintenance Manager - Electrical and maintenance Millwright

Carisbrooke Valley Citrus is a rapidly growing fruit packhouse situated 12km from Ixopo in Southern KZN, which processes and packs fruit for export and local markets for numerous fruit growers in the surrounding area. We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced technical professional to join our team as the Maintenance Manager.

CVC is committed to investing in high-end machinery and equipment, with a growing focus on automation and computerized systems. This role will place a significant emphasis on electrical skills and knowledge, including electrical wiring, electrical fault finding, PLC maintenance, and programming.

Key qualifications and skills required:
Certified millwright - minimum N3 qualification - Millwright (Red Seal).
Proof of additional electromechanical training / education.
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified Millwright in a production environment.
Electrical experience / skills suited to a production environment.
Proven skill and experience in electrical planning, wiring and fault finding.
Proven skill and experience in maintenance of motors, drives, gearboxes, couplings, conveyors etc.
Strong skills in PLC maintenance and programming an advantage.
Basic knowledge and experience of plumbing, refrigeration, boiler making, rigging etc.
Sound computer skills, including MS Excel.
High attention to detail regarding the precision and quality demands of the production process.
Ability to be a team leader and team player.
Strong organizational skills, good time management, self-motivated, punctual and of sober habits.
Willingness to teach and learn as necessary.
Valid driver’s licence.

Roles and responsibilities include:
Overall management of a small maintenance team.
Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs of all production related plant and machinery.
Schedule and carry out preventative maintenance of all production plant and machinery.
Responding to any form of breakdown with urgency to minimize production downtime.
Repair of machinery parts using welding, brazing, and other specialized tools.
Carry out inspections and risk assessments with a focus on continuous improvement.
Maintenance of company vehicles, including tractors and forklifts.
Maintenance of infrastructure including buildings, water reticulation, roads, etc.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the property, workshop and production areas to required standards.
Inventory control of consumables, spares, tools and equipment.
Cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Strict adherence to quality control measures.
Development of new systems and processes to enhance production efficiency.
Collaboration with relevant departments to ensure efficient flow of documentation and proper record keeping, including maintenance records.
Reduction of scrap, wastage, and downtime of machinery.
Compliance with all company policies and quality control standards, as well as health and safety, food safety, and any other workplace certification standards required by the industry.
