Job Description

My client is currently looking for a suitably qualified person with experience in Front End or Steam and Power Generation (S&PG) operations for the position of Production Shift Foreman. Reporting to the Production Shift Manager (PSM), the successful incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership, operational guidance, and operational excellence in the Front- End or Steam & Power Generation sections of the Factory on a shift basis.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Plan and supervise the daily work and performance of each employee on assigned shift, organise schedules, and assign work activity to achieve team and company objectives safely.
• Together with the teams, achieve shift, daily, weekly, monthly performance targets for respective area by ensuring that tasks are prioritised and planned in a logical, systematic, and cost-effective way to optimise profitability.
• Model Leadership behaviours, collaborating, partnering, and communicating effectively within and between teams and support functions.
• Develop an operational budget for the Front-End section in consultation with the PSMs, Maintenance Engineer and Finance Business Partner.
• Effectively manage costs and allocated budget in area of responsibility.
• Monitor plant performance, support, and advise teams in solving problems and/or taking corrective action.
• Monitor Team and individual performances, take corrective actions as and when required.
• Monitor standards for setting, operating, and maintaining equipment and ensure instructions are adhered to.
• Identify areas where production and quality management can be improved and manage the implementation of systems and processes to make the improvements.
• Provide technical and operational guidance to the Front-End Team to ensure optimal performance of the plant.
• Ensure continuous improvement by implementing functional best practices and conducting physical inspections.
• Monitor quality performance raising incidents when required for immediate corrective action.
• Identify L&D needs within the team and manage training through business partnership with the L&D Team.
• Inspect critical equipment and ensure adherence to minimum standards. Report any deviations to the PSM on duty.
• Support the maintenance team to provide a reliable and high performing plant as and when necessary.
• Ensure continuous improvement by implementing functional best practices and conducting physical inspections.
• Work with Maintenance teams to solve problems and promote cross functional engagement & teamwork.
• Ensure all reporting is compliant with company policy and procedures including Maximo reports.
• Provide input into best practices, frameworks, and minimum standards within function, and provide additional opportunities for problem identification and knowledge sharing.
• Identify and monitor KPIs to track performance and flag any issues.
• Ensure Front End efficiencies are optimised with the aim of maximising sucrose Extraction and reducing / elimination sucrose degradation.
• Drive the implementation of the production and ensure full compliance to all company requirements.
• Ensure compliance to environmental requirements.
• Promote a culture of consistently assessing risks, adhering to safety requirements, and promoting SHERQ compliance – drive safety as a way of life in the factory.
• Promote and adhere to company procedures, policies, and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum: high school certificate / matric / N3
• Preferred: National Trade Test Grade 1 or Engineering Diploma
• 5+ years post experience in a Mill operation (Front End)
• 2+ years Supervisory / Foreman experience in a Mill operation (Front End).
• Able to work methodically and systematically in a Mill environment.

Salary:
45.000,00 ZAR Monthly
