APM Specialist (AppDynamics)

Purpose of the Position:
The role involves the delivering Application Performance Management (APM) and Monitoring Tools. This role requires a wellrounded expertise in application monitoring, with a focus on AppDynamics, and a broad understanding of the technical
aspects of deploying and managing mission-critical applications. The combination of cloud knowledge, technical proficiency,
and experience in the application lifecycle suggests a comprehensive skill set in the field of performance management and
monitoring.
The key responsibilities include APM product engineering and customizations to meet requirements and enhance
automation. Additionally, the role involves designing a scalable, resilient, and cost-effective deployment architecture,
providing DevOps personnel with guidelines and best practices, promoting APM usage throughout the development
lifecycle, and optimizing APM across platforms and service delivery models. The primary focus is on APM toolsets for
proactive monitoring of multi-tier applications and ensuring a positive end-user experience.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop IT operational and executive dashboards aligned with business objectives.
• Deploy and administer Log Analytics Splunk, with a focus on ITSI (IT Service Intelligence) and ITOA (IT Operations
Analytics).
• Deploy and administer AppDynamics APM tools, including Synthetic, B/M-RUM (Browser and Mobile-Real User
Monitoring), APM, and Analytics.
• Configure AppDynamics to monitor Applications.
• Possess working knowledge of application technologies such as SOAP/XML, JavaScript, Java, Python, .NET, and
databases, Selenium.
• Have working knowledge of common platforms including Unix, Linux, and Windows.
• Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:
• Create configuration and build documentation.
• Transfer knowledge to designated team members for all provided services.
• Engineer solutions and establish standards for AppDynamics Controller and agent deployments.
• Optimize and tune deployments based on project requirements.
• Adopt AppDynamics for usage in Cloud IaaS and PaaS models.
• Devise an authentication and authorization model for AppDynamics within the standard Client security framework.
• Develop customizations as needed.
• Architect a highly available and scalable Controller infrastructure.
• Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
• Identify opportunities for automated deployments to reduce operational tasks.
• Identify opportunities for integrating AppDynamics with other monitoring tools in the Client portfolio.

Skills
• Familiarity with cloud environments, including Azure and Amazon AWS.
• Understanding of how to monitor cloud-based applications using AppDynamics.
• In-depth knowledge of AppDynamics, including its internals and REST API.
• Extensive industry experience in deploying AppDynamics for critical applications.
• Ability to develop AppDynamics Monitoring Extensions.
• Experience with various monitoring and performance tools beyond AppDynamics.
• Strong technical skills in Java programming.
• Proficiency in Unix shell scripting.
• Exposure to the full application lifecycle, covering coding, testing, deployment, and post-implementation activities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications and experience:
● Minimum of 3 - 7 years of experience in application monitoring.
● B.Sc. (Computer Science and Computer Engineering) or similar qualifications
● AppDynamics training and certification.
