Job Description

Makgowa Building and Projects is seeking a dedicated and proactive Site Quantity Surveyor (Site QS) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing contracts and costs of various projects, ensuring they remain within the prescribed budget. The role requires excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills to liaise effectively with all stakeholders and ensure projects are carried out efficiently and effectively. This role will be based on-site in Lydenburg, Marifaan. 6 month contract with possibility of project extension.

Key Responsibilities:

Keep an accurate record of project expenses by preparing reports, as well as keeping adequate and accurate track of materials and ordering.
Scrutinize maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure that expenses are minimized, and the best deals are achieved.
Measuring work on site constantly in order to prepare for valuations. Confirm quantities on site in relation to the BOQ.
Prepare for valuations for subcontractors by measuring for work done and coming to an agreement with subcontractors.
Making any records of changes on site, quantifying and thus costing, and advising the Head Office.
Making records of items delivered on-site, confirming quantity and quality, and advising the Head Office.
Assist in ordering of materials by preparing cost trackers for items to be purchased.
Note and record events that may affect the budget of a project.

Other Tasks:

Assist in preparation of contract documents for the appointment of sub-contractors.
Utilize skills, creativity, and professionalism to ensure that projects remain within the prescribed budget.
Liaise and work cooperatively with all stakeholders, ensuring the project is carried out efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications and Requirements:

A diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying.
A minimum of one year of experience in quantity surveying on-site is preferred.
A valid driver's license.
Excellent communication and computer skills.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently.
Proactive with strong numerical ability and attention to detail.
High standard of integrity.
