Job Description

Our client, a well-known highly reputable manufacturer, seeks to employ a fitter that is experienced with the repair and maintenance of lifting equipment (Cranes etc.).
The successful applicant will be accountable for providing preventative maintenance and attending to mechanical breakdowns to ensure plant availability and minimize downtime.
The successful applicant will report to the Maintenance Supervisor
• Please only apply if you do not have experience with the repairs, fixing, maintenance of lifting equipment (cranes, etc)
• Registered LMI (Lift Machine Inspector) or LTI’s advantageous
• The salary range is up to around R35 000, dependent on experience and qualification. (negotiable)

Overview of Key Activities:
• Repair and maintain all lifting equipment (LTI).
• Repair and maintain all electrical hoist, wire and chain hoist.
• Responsible for inspections on all lifting equipment.
• Assist Lifting Machine Inspector with load testing and inspection.
• Responsible for preventative maintenance on all hoist and overhead cranes.
• Responsible for update and filing of all service and inspection sheets.
• Conduct breakdown maintenance, complete proactive maintenance / maintain plant & machinery.
• Assist in installation & commissioning of new equipment.
• Perform planned maintenance tasks on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Adhere to industry environmental, safety & OHSA standards.
• Fault finding / testing and evaluating equipment for irregularities then repairing the same.
• Investigate problem areas by reading and working from mechanical drawings.
• Safety installations and compliance.
• Use the planned maintenance system with reference to the inline maintenance schedules and shutdown maintenance schedules,
• Adhere to both industry quality standards and the requirements of ISO 9001.
• Where appropriate, oversee work of contractors on site.
• Provide support & assistance to all departments.

Essential Requirements:

• Applicants must be a qualified Fitter or Millwright with a recognized trade test.
• 3-5 years post apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Preference will be given to candidates that are registered LMI or LTI’s.
• Must be able to climb and work on heights with no medical restrictions.
• Own reliable transport required.
