Job Description

Are you a qualified Diesel Mechanic with strong leadership skills and a passion for maintaining heavy-duty vehicles? We are seeking an experienced Senior Workshop Foreman (Mechanical) to lead our team and ensure the optimal performance of our vehicle fleet.

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:

- Trade-tested Diesel Mechanic qualification.
- Valid Code EC (or EC1 0.4 or C) driver’s license with PrDP.
- 5+ years of experience as a foreman in a heavy commercial (buses) workshop environment.
- Proven experience in maintenance, servicing, and repair of heavy-duty vehicles and automotive components.
- Auto Electrical experience (advantageous).
- Expertise in engine removal, refitting, and re-commissioning of heavy commercial vehicles.
- Relevant supervisory or foreman experience.

Job Outputs
As the Senior Workshop Foreman, your responsibilities will include:

- Coordinating and implementing vehicle fleet maintenance activities.
- Managing vehicle fleet operations to ensure roadworthiness and daily availability.
- Leading and supervising a team to ensure optimal performance and human resource utilization.
- Conducting engine changes and ring services on buses.
- Ensuring failure reports and vehicle transfer checklists are completed.
- Preparing and submitting management reports.

Competencies

Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of the bus passenger industry.
- Familiarity with workshop procedures and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Knowledge of disciplinary policies and procedures.

Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Effective time management and supervisory skills.
- Fault-finding and problem-solving expertise.
- Proficiency in basic computer literacy (advantageous).
- Report-writing capabilities.

- Willingness to work after hours when required.

Working Conditions:
- Normal workshop environment with occasional extended hours to meet operational needs.
