Job Description

Inherent requirements:
• Safety Management Training Course (SAMTRAC) / Diploma in Safety Management
• Valid SAIOSH membership certificate
• At least 5 years previous experience in safety
• Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
• Engineering and Construction background
• Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• Communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Be prepared to travel extensively.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Engage as the contact person for health and safety related issues
• Develop and implement procedures and programs that promote a culture of safety and compliance.
• Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented
• Liaise with external health & safety consultants in the provision of training programmes and health and safety
• Conduct inspections and observations on all working environments
• Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety, and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting
• Implement and monitor all Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management systems on site, including, but not limited to HSE guidelines, objectives, and practices
• Schedule and execute audits on site to identify areas of improvement and implement measures as required
• Carry out risk assessments on a continuous basis on site.
• Keep HSE registers up to date, including renewals of permits, licenses, etc.
