Hospitality Assistant / Housekeeping Manager (Stellenbosch area)

HOSPITALITY ASSISTANT : Exclusive Villa Accommodation and Tasting Room (Stellenbosch Wine Route)

Our client is situated in the picturesque Banghoek Valley and is surrounded by an amphitheatre of vineyards and mountains. The exclusive Villa Accommodation offers 6 double rooms in ultimate luxury comfort.
We are seeking a hands-on individual with experience in a luxury five-star hospitality environment in roles such as Housekeeping / Hospitality Management / Cook / Butler. Main focus will be on housekeeping. Highly guest and service centric.

Job Purpose:

The Hospitality Assistant (HA) will support his/her team in the execution of all hospitality operations at The Homestead and The Tasting Room as directed by the Hospitality Manager.

Employment Conditions:

• 3 Years' Experience working as a Housekeeper/ Cook / Butler in a Five-star Hospitality or Private residence setting
• Driver’s Licence and own reliable vehicle essential
• Willingness to move between departments as and when required
• Responsible, honest, and reliable
• Be an effective team worker
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to take initiative
• Passion for delivering exceptional guest service
• Positive and flexible approach to work (weekend and evening work may be required)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Homestead

Managing Kitchen and Laundry Services:

• Ensuring the kitchen utilities are cleaned and properly maintained
• Detailed cleaning of all kitchen surface and dining / serving areas, including the pantry
• Preparation and delivery of breakfast and the occasional light lunch
• Maintaining adequate stocks of food and household provisions
• Shopping
• Setting the tables for meals and serving when necessary
• Maintaining stocks of Wine and other beverages including the care of stemware
• Ensuring all special guest inclusions are maintained and beautifully presented
• Including but not limited to sundowner drinks - mis en place, sundowner snacks, homemade biscuits, freshwater jug, and water glasses
• Managing onsite and offsite laundry services

Guest Service Areas

• Flower arranging
• Housekeeping team support to ensure all service areas are clean and set up to the highest standard
• Working through a pre-arrival guest check list
• Refill and maintenance of ALL guest amenities e.g., candles, bathroom amenities, slippers, tissues, firelighters, charcoal etc.
• Preparation of guest arrival snacks and welcome drinks
• Braai set up
• Liaising with the Groundsman to assist with firewood, cleaning of fireplaces, and / or cleaning of outside service areas
• Conducting household content inventory when required
• Reporting of maintenance issues to the Hospitality Manager
• Running of errands as required
• Ensuring the house is secure and all is in place at the end of each working day

Wine Club Dinners and Events

• Pre event setting up according to a checklist
• Assist and execute the delivery of dining events – food and wine service
• Post event clearing, packing away and cleaning
• Any other duties as directed by the Hospitality Manager

The Tasting Room

• Assist the housekeeping and guest service team in The Tasting Room when The Homestead is not occupied by guests
• Ensuring that all service areas are clean and set up to the highest standard
• Preparation of a snack offering to accompany wine tastings
• Care and cleaning of stemware and glassware
• Welcoming and seating of guests

Remuneration details:
R11 000 - R15 000 relating to experience / Live-Out position
