Production Manager

PURPOSE
We are seeking a dynamic, energised and experienced Production Manager with a background in Industrial Engineering to take ownership of production in a busy Plastic, packaging and injection moulding environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient production, adherence to quality and safety standards and team management.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Management or Production Management or similar

REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a plastic packaging industry environment, with at least 2 years in a Production Manager role.
- Strong understanding of production processes, and ability to troubleshoot.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. - Proficient in using MS Office tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT:
- Plan, organize, and supervise production processes to meet set targets in terms of output, quality, and timelines.
- Monitor machine performance and coordinate with maintenance team to ensure minimal downtime.
- Optimize production efficiency by reducing waste and improving cycle times.

TEAM LEADERSHIP:
- Manage, train, and motivate a team of operators and assistants on responsible shifts.
- Conduct shift handovers, performance reviews, and team meetings to ensure alignment with production goals.
- Address discipline issues and foster a culture of accountability and discipline

QUALITY ASSURANCE:
- Enforce adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure all products meet quality standards.
- Conduct regular systems checks, processes, products, machinery settings, and documentation.
- Adherence to root cause analyses and preventative measures when presented with non-conformances.

REPORTING AND DOCUMENTATION:
- Maintain accurate production records, downtime reports, and waste records.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports and feedback on output, efficiency, and other KPIs as required.

SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE:
- Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and conducting risk assessments.
- Adhere to all ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
- Member of the Health and safety committee
