Job Description

Job Title: Sales Executive – Commercial Vehicles (Trucks)
Location: Greater Durban Area
Salary: Competitive, commission-based (based on income generated)

A leading commercial vehicle dealership is seeking an experienced Sales Executive to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the motor industry, particularly in selling Extra Heavy, Heavy, and Medium Commercial Vehicles, and will be responsible for increasing sales and profitability through new business development and customer retention. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a sales-driven environment and is willing to travel frequently to meet clients.

Key Requirements:

-Matric (Post-graduate qualification is advantageous)
-5 - 8 years of proven commercial vehicle sales experience
-Established database of clients/customers
-Strong deal closing abilities
-Computer literate with proficiency in relevant sales software
-Bilingual – good command of English and Afrikaans
-Valid Code 14 driver’s licence with PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
-Ability to work under pressure and meet targets

Key Responsibilities:

-Achieve sales targets (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) and compile weekly/monthly sales reports
-Maintain and update sales plans, including literature and details on available commercial vehicles
-Build and nurture strong relationships with customers, ensuring satisfaction and retention
-Proactively prospect for new clients, compile quotes, and close sales
-Respond to sales enquiries from new and existing customers
-Deliver presentations at conferences, customer sites, and exhibitions
-Maintain accurate contact database and ensure regular follow-ups with clients
-Monitor and report on market trends, competitor activities, and identify potential business opportunities
-Negotiate agreement terms and successfully close sales
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve services and business initiatives
-Provide feedback to enhance product functionality and service delivery
-Meet annual sales goals and targets

Working Conditions:

-45 hours per week, Monday to Friday
-Role requires regular travel within the greater Durban area
-Full use of a company car
-Cell phone allowance provided

-Knowledge of commercial vehicles and ability to communicate product features effectively
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-Strong customer service skills and a customer-focused approach
-Ability to negotiate effectively and close sales
-Self-motivated, independent, and able to function without supervision
-Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
-Adaptable, with the ability to handle varied tasks in a fast-paced environment
-Highly professional with a strong work ethic, trustworthiness, and reliability
