DCS Engineer

Purpose
To Maintain the Plant DCS System and all Integrated Systems

Job Outputs

Business processes systems & resources
• To deploy and re-deploy existing equipment.
• Maintain a DCS backup strategy.
• To provide DCS technical support on client specific software and hardware.
• To perform required DCS preventative maintenance tasks.
• Ensure all As Build documents are updated and are correct.
• Maintenance of all DCS interfaces for systems integration.
• Execute new DCS projects in terms of programming new PLC’s/Programs and integrating this into the overall DCS system and all ancillary systems.
• Continuous improvement of production process through PID Tuning and Process Control.
• Continuous improvement of diagnostic interfaces for production and engineering.
• Continuous improvement of alarms and event handling
• Maintenance of Production related Reports.
• Maintenance of all Historian Data.
• Ensure adequate monitoring of all inter system communication.
• Maintain System Architecture Drawings are in place and updated according to any system changes/enhancements.
• Maintain and upgrade integrated systems.
• Maintenance of Network and all Network related hardware as well as network security (Firewall).
• Maintenance of PLC infrastructure according to standards set by the Company
• Ensure house keeping of all network, hardware and cabling.
• Execute network preventative maintenance tasks for both hardware and software.
• Maintaining network monitoring and alerting.
• Maintain and Deploy a Server Architecture Strategy.
• Ensure a server testing process is in place and adhered to for all changes/upgrades.
• Execute server upgrades.
• Ensure all server daily/weekly checks are completed.
• Ensure all server preventative maintenance tasks are planned for and completed.

Qualifications
- Matric
- NQF Level 7 – 3 years degree/ advanced diploma in Information Technology/ Computer Science of Electrical Engineering

Experience
- PLC Programming and DCS System
- Plant Instrumentation
- DCS System Integration

• Knowledge of PLC Control Networks and Profibus/Profinet configuration, optimization and management.
• Knowledge of Siemens PCS 7 and/or Siemens S7/TIA Portal and Scada Programming.
