Job Description
One of our large fleet management clients based in Sandton are urgently in need of a Parts Buyer within the Fleet Industry to start as soon as possible, or immediately.
Salary: R15 000 – R20 000 depending on experience, with Pension Fund
MUST HAVE AT LEAST 5+ YEARS’ SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE AS A PARTS BUYER SPECIFICALLY FOR TRUCK AND BAKKIE PARTS, WITH A DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF THE PARTS' SPECIFICATIONS AND USAGE
Working Hours: Mon – Fri: 07h30 – 17h00
Job Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Parts Buyer with a strong background in purchasing truck and bakkie parts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing the correct parts needed for repairs and maintenance in our workshop. A keen eye for detail, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage inventory effectively are essential for this role
Requirements:
Grade 12
Own Transport
Must have at least 5+ years’ Significant experience as a Parts Buyer specifically for truck and bakkie parts, with a deep understanding of the parts' specifications and usage
Ability to negotiate prices and terms with suppliers while ensuring high-quality parts
Experience with inventory management systems and general office software to track parts orders and stock levels.
Needs to be proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
Fleetactiv it is not compulsory but beneficial
Duties:
Parts Procurement: Manage the end-to-end process of purchasing truck and bakkie parts, ensuring timely and accurate ordering of parts.
Supplier Liaison: Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring the delivery of quality parts on time, negotiating prices, and addressing any discrepancies.
Inventory Management: Conduct regular stock audits, track parts inventory levels, and ensure parts are readily available for workshop needs.
Stock Replenishment: Monitor parts stock levels, place orders to replenish stocks based on usage rates and upcoming jobs.
Cost Control: Maintain a budget for parts purchases and seek opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
Documentation & Record-Keeping: Ensure accurate record-keeping for all parts ordered, received, and used in the workshop.
Workshop Coordination: Collaborate with workshop managers and technicians to understand parts requirements for upcoming repairs and ensure timely delivery.
Quality Control: Verify that parts received meet quality standards and are suitable for the intended purpose
