Job Description
Location: Port Elizabeth (PE), with travel across South Africa
Working Hours: Mon–Thu: 07h15–16h30 | Fri: 07h15–13h30
We’re recruiting for a top-tier power generation company looking for an experienced Trade-Tested Electrician to join their team as a Senior Field Technician. This role is ideal for someone with strong fault-finding skills, automation knowledge. Experience commissioning generators and hybrid systems advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform fault diagnostics using laptops and relevant software tools.
• Commission generators and hybrid systems in collaboration with the projects team (training will be provided)
• Replace alternators, changeover switches, and work on motorized circuit breakers.
• Support installations, operations, and maintenance of generators and related systems (training will be provided)
• Maintain and manage high-automation systems.
• Potential involvement in PLC programming (e.g., pump automation).
• Participate in commissioning and handover processes.
• Travel across SA for site work (installations, diagnostics, maintenance).
• Be available for standby duties and after-hours calls when required.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Trade-Tested Electrician (with completed trade qualification).
• Minimum 4 years of post-trade experience.
• Skilled with high-automation systems and motorized circuit breakers.
• Experience with generator controllers and solar inverters (advantageous).
• PLC knowledge is a plus.
• Confident using laptop-based diagnostics.
• Professional, reliable, and hard-working with strong ethics.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Afrikaans-speaking is a bonus (not a requirement).
