Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Manage Quality Assurance & Control according to ISO9001:2015 within the group across projects as required.
2. Stimulate quality awareness & implications with all Employees across the spectrum.
3. Perform QC inspections before, during, and after welding, including layout, fit-up, sub-assembly, final-assembly inspections, pre-heat, weld quality compliance, interval distortion checks, and NDT1 witnessing on critical welds.
4. Conduct QC inspections for line-bore, including line-up inspection according to drawing, photo evidence for critical dimensions, workmanship checks, and checklist compilation.
5. Review and compile NDT reports on the Galactus live system, raise new NDT requests, and acquire evidence & data for quality control and data books/MDR2s.
6. Compile photographical, pre-heat, customer, and line boring reports (MDR or stand-alone) progressively.
7. Log CIP3, CAR, and NCR issues as necessary.
8. Monitor ITP/QCP/SOW hold-points and manage sign-off of ITP/QCP/SOW process steps.
9. Manage 3rd party & client inspections, assisting with logistics, if necessary, occasional breakdown support.
10. Conduct in-house MT & PT inspections, recording UT failures on the live system.
11. Conduct internal/external audits, certification audits, supplier audits (new, current, critical).
12. Identify shortcomings in manufacture, report anomalies & recommend changes in systems.
Education & Training:
- National Senior Certificate.
- Qualified Trade.
- Minimum Level 1 Welding & Fabrication Inspector Certificate.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years welding & fabrication experience in a similar position.
- Interpretation of design intent (drawings, blueprints, engineering docs).
- Advanced knowledge of welding procedures and processes (FCAW/SAW/CO2 on Q&T plates).
- Proficient computer & math skills, particularly MS 365.
- Tech-savvy (use tablets, smartphones, comm, etc. with ease).

- Diligence for strict data management.
- Production, deadline, and efficiency driven.
- Strong written communication skills and Stress tolerance & strong leadership.
- Initiative & thinking for oneself and Self-managed, self-directed & highly motivated.
- Physically fit (using both hands, climbing, walking around).
- Able to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Able to follow instructions thoroughly and Clear telephonic communication ability.
Working Conditions:
- Work Environment: Seated office, heavy-fabrication factory, outdoor, and off-site.
- Hours & Shifts: Regular: Mon-Thurs 07h00 – 16h00, Fri 08h00 – 13h00.
- Irregular: Occasional deadlines/inspections may result in hour overruns.
- Supervision Expected: Support for Supervisor (planning) & direction for JDS-QA-QC Administrator.
