Operating out of a modest factory on Heidelberg Road in Johannesburg, George’s daily routine was one of dedication—selecting fresh potatoes, hand-slicing, frying, and seasoning them to perfection. He would then load his vehicle and personally deliver his crisps to customers around Johannesburg, quickly building a loyal following who appreciated the care and quality in every batch.

As demand for his crisps grew, so did George’s reputation. In 2008, Atiyyah Distributors saw the potential to help the brand grow further, acquiring the company and ensuring that the handmade approach remained at the heart of production. With new commercial kitchens and expanded production, George’s famous crisps continued to be made with the same love and attention to detail as when George first started.

In 2023, George’s Savoury Snacks made an exciting move by partnering with a leading Asian manufacturer to launch George’s Stack Snacks—an innovative, high-quality, stackable chip that brings a new level of flavour and convenience to our range. This move perfectly complements our original handmade crisps, offering consumers even more ways to enjoy the George’s Savoury Snacks experience.

Looking ahead, in 2025, George’s Savoury Snacks welcomed TRG Retail Consultants & Associates—experts with decades of combined experience in the Southern African retail landscape. With their strategic guidance, George’s Savoury Snacks is set to expand, innovate, and reach new heights in the South African snack industry.
