Code 14 Side Tipper Driver

JOB OVERVIEW:

The job requirement is for a licensed side tipper truck driver who will be responsible for the safe and timely loading and offloading of goods, especially coal to our customers. The Code 14 driver is tasked with driving and maintaining trucks that will be assigned to him/her, as well as working closely with our team of Fleet Controllers and Safety Officer in order to plan routes and track deliveries safely and efficiently and to assist the company to maximize revenues.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Loading and off-loading various material, especially coal
• Responsible for the vehicle and load.
• Daily inspection of the vehicle and to report all faults.
• Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
• Inspect trucks and record issues.
• Navigate his/her way around Mpumalanga and Gauteng areas
• Record load deliveries.
• Refuel and clean vehicle.
• Report road and site incidents to the Fleet controller on duty and Safety Officer immediately .
• Follow accident and incident procedures.
• Keep an activities log and log hours.
• Ensure adherence to the Road Traffic Act
• Ensure the safety of other road users
• Abide by the regulations as set out in Occupational Health and Safety Act, company policies and the regulations of the road.
• Maintain a positive attitude with customers.
• Keep PDP and other required permits, licence and documents up to date.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Grade 10 is a minimum requirements - Grade 12 certificate is preferred
• Valid, unendorsed Code 14 license with valid PDP
• 5 years side tipper driving experience
• Hands on and practical approach to the job
• Experience with driving vehicles with manual gearboxes
• Experienced in reversing a side tipper trailer is required
• Must pass drug and alcohol test
• Must have clean driving record
• Must provide a medical certificate
• Must have a valid police clearance
