Yard Supervisor - Gate Checker

Our client based in Wellington, Cape Town urgently requires an experienced person to look after all vehicles/trucks and trailers in their yard.

MAIN FUNCTIONS/KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS OF THE POSITION:

• Check vehicles according to checklists and report faults

• Ensure errors have been corrected before the vehicles leave the yard.

• Ensure that vehicles are full of diesel.

• Ensure vehicles are in roadworthy condition.

• Responsible for checking all recliner equipment and to ensure that the correct equipment is always on vehicles.

• The export of equipment on vehicles.

• Responsible for ensuring that the equipment on vehicles is in good condition.

• Report anomalies immediately to operations support.

• Ensure that vehicle and depot windows are closed and that keys are with the security.

• Checking equipment and tools and reporting irregularities.

• Issuing tools and equipment as discussed and keeping a register of them.

• Opening, closing, nailing, sewing, marking, tying, filling, or emptying bales, barrels, packing cases, boxes, cans, cartons, boxes, bags, or containers.

• Assist with loading and unloading of containers.

• Paste labels on goods or mark them, provide them with a brand, stamp or stencil, or perforate labels.

• Packaging, wrapping, or tying up goods.

• Look after motor vehicles, goods, or cargo on motor vehicles.

• Repair packing cases, boxes, crates or pallets by hand.

Responsible for ensuring that the grounds are kept clean and tidy at all times.

• Responsible for ensuring that the area around the operational support and security offices is kept clean and tidy at all times.

• Responsible for ensuring that the sails and all equipment in the store are always clean and tidy.

• Operate a hand crane, hoist, pump, roll-off machine, jack, or winch.

• Repair packing cases, boxes, crates, or pallets by hand.
