Process Engineer

Our client in the water treatment industry is looking for an experienced Process Engineer to join their team.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed design of water and wastewater treatment solutions.
• Design calculations and equipment selection
• Drafting of P&IDs to be issued for construction.
• Provide the project's final quantities and costing
• Prepare signed-off Engineering Work Packages to be issued to workshop and contractors
• Prepare signed-off As-built Engineering Packages for clients and the sales Team
• Feedback to the Sales Team on equipment selection and costing
• Continuously monitor the quality and progress of the plants built in the workshop
• Maintain good communication with stakeholders including the project manager, sales team, workshop, and contractors
• Develop and review project procedures, standard specifications and design criteria
• Provide and/or coordinate training for end-users
• Procurement of specialized equipment and nonstock items
• Ongoing research of relevant technologies, legislation, and market drivers
• Conduct site audits, including water and effluent sampling, data collaboration, and production of site water balance/modelling.
• Process assessment and optimization
• Report compilation and presentation
• Plant factory acceptance testing and hot commissioning
• Provide clients with strategic advice and input into total water management
• Supplier and Technology identification, selection, review, and innovation
• Pilot plants trial design and execution
• Participation in technology and IP research and development
• Customer interaction be able to qualify and quantify the customer needs
• Interact and meet with client for design sign off.
• Ad-hoc procurement on special projects where required.
• Approval and monitoring of schedules
• Handle customer complaints during plant-built process and ensure troubleshooting is completed.

Qualifications and requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Chemical/Process Engineering
Microsoft Office suite
Code 08 driver’s license
Computer literacy in MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) and AutoCAD.

Experience:
 1-3 years’ experience as a process engineer in a water/ wastewater environment.
 Similar Industry experience will be an advantage
 Good mathematical and data interpretation capabilities
 Knowledge of water and wastewater legislation, particularly with respect to Potable Water (SANS 241) and trade effluent discharge permit systems
 Working knowledge of water treatment process solutions including UF/NF/RO membranes, media filtration, ion exchange, and disinfection systems
 Working knowledge of effluent treatment process solutions including biological, chemical, and physio-chemical processes
 Working knowledge of H&S, Quality Assurance, and Project Management practices
