Job Description

Controls daily production at the High Chrome ball plant ensuring that a product of high quality is produced at all times as cost effective as possible, maximising on time available and minimising plant downtime.

Responsible for arranging shifts to ensure that all lines have enough personnel.
•Make sure spares and raw materials, e.g. Gunning materials, alloys at charge prep etc., are available for the shift.
•Ensure that all process parameters are correct.
•Randomly check heat temperatures to make sure they conform to specifications - sign both furnace log sheets and sand tester’s log sheet.
•Ensure that process parameters are correct and recorded accordingly – this to include cycle times, mould thickness, metal level in the tundish, nozzle and stopper condition etc.
•Inspect balls for defects and take appropriate action if needed.
•Ensure that costs are kept to a minimum by avoiding unnecessary use of alloys such as IC3 in charge make up.
•Inspect all equipment daily, reporting any problems either to the maintenance or production superintendent.
•Maintain discipline in plant.
•Delegate tasks to subordinates and ensure they are carried out, continuously assessing progress.
•Complete and explain all delays in a detailed manner.
•Ensure all safety inspections are done and the necessary inspection forms are filled in (crane logbooks, forklift books, etc.)
•Communicate to work force, any briefs or safety related incidents.
•Be part of the safety drive, ensuring SWP (Safe Working Procedure) and job observations in the plant are done.
•Ensure that procedures (safety and process) are followed.
•Keep record of all training and training needs, informing the superintendent of any training needs.
•Participate in VFL (Visible Felt Leadership) when it occurs on your line.
•Take responsibility for the safety of all the people on your shift.
•Ensure the correct PPE is always worn initiating discipline if necessary.
•Ensure risk assessments are done and completed.
•Ensure that isolation procedures are done accordingly.
•Ensure people abide to the golden rules and fatal risk standards.
•Ensure that all safety standards are maintained at all times – conduct regular SHEQ box talks.
•Make sure the plant is kept tidy and neat at all times.
•Report equipment damage.
•Ensure that all used production spares e.g. Stoppers are removed from the plant and taken for repairs.
•Ensure that production equipment is well taken care of.
•Be accountable for shift production targets as contained in the weekly production schedule.
•Be visible in the plant. Making rounds to all spheres of your influence continuously.
•Act as mentor to subordinates, having an interest in their growth and development.
•Ensure proper and adequate housekeeping is done on shift; report any excessive spillage to relevant people for attention.

Qualifications
Essential:
• Diploma in Metallurgy, Production or Engineering.
Advantageous:
• Supervisory or people management qualification

Experience, Skills, Knowledge
Minimum 3 years working experience in manufacturing production environment.
•Knowledge of melting procedures.
•Knowledge of Charge make up and calculations.
•Knowledge of Operation of Arc furnace and Induction furnace
•Knowledge of Furnace reline process.
•Knowledge of Casting procedures
•Knowledge of Moulding with green sand
•Knowledge of Testing of green sand and control
•Knowledge of Operation of Disamatic moulding and press pour control.
•Must be computer literate.
•Must have excellent organizational and supervisory skills.
•Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work in a high-pressure environment.
•Must have good controlling, and planning skills.
•Results orientation – able to drive initiatives through to completion.
•Attention to detail – accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring high quality professional output.
•Interpersonal skills – good facilitation, communication, and general interpersonal skills.
•Communication – The Ability to communicate professionally at all levels.

Salary:
60.000,00 ZAR Monthly
