Job Description
Maintains hotel’s reservations system and assist with revenue strategy
Deals with individual guest, groups & conferences, travel agents, tour operators, e-mail and internet enquiries and bookings
Process all reservation & banqueting requests, changes, and cancellations received by phone or mail
Identify individual & group reservation needs and determine appropriate room type
Verify availability of room type and rate. Explain guarantee, special rate, and cancellation policies to callers
Produces relevant reports pertaining to reservations made
Responsible for adherence to laid down procedures and standards, in order to achieve the highest possible occupancies and average room rates
Creates & checks group reservations for functions, conferences, groups and tours
Ensuring all rooming lists are received and entered correctly
Check that correct sales techniques are adhered to and assist with training where required
Check that all invoices, quotations and contracts are correct before it is sent to the client, and follow corrective actions if needed
Assist banqueting coordinators with group and individual quotations
Assist with balancing inventory and revenue as operationally required
Assist with payroll as required
The following are the requirements:
Grade 12 or equal qualification
Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory position is required
Computer knowledge and effective telephone etiquette
Guest service oriented and professional
Effective time management and problem solving skills
Detail oriented and works with high degree of accuracy
Highly organized and adaptable
Must be self-directed
Ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines.
Honest, trustworthy, dependable with sober habits
Proficiency in English
Able to work weekends or public holidays when required
Must have a valid South African ID
