Job Description

Creating Patterns:

Develop new patterns from sketches or design concepts.
Use software (e.g., CAD) or traditional methods to create accurate and detailed patterns.
Analyzing Design Briefs:

Interpret fashion designs or technical sketches from designers to understand garment specifications.
Consider fabric properties and how they will affect the fit and structure of the garment.
Measuring and Fitting:

Take accurate measurements to ensure the pattern fits properly on the intended body type.
Perform fittings with prototypes and adjust patterns based on feedback.
Adjusting Patterns:

Make adjustments to patterns to improve the fit, shape, and style.
Modify patterns based on changes in design, fabric choice, or sizing.
Creating Sample Garments:

Cut and sew prototype garments using the pattern to check for fit, design, and construction.
Analyze the prototype to identify any issues in the pattern or construction process.
Grading:

Grade patterns to produce different sizes, ensuring consistency across size ranges.
Ensure that all proportions, shapes, and measurements are maintained.
Pattern Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of patterns, including markings, notches, grainlines, and measurements.
Create pattern specs and ensure proper labeling and organization for easy retrieval.
Collaborating with Designers:

Work closely with designers to refine and finalize patterns based on their design ideas.
Communicate adjustments, improvements, and potential issues related to patternmaking.
