Job Description

Tshwane Blind Care is dedicated to advocating for the inclusivity and well-being of visually impaired individuals. We provide psychosocial support, promote accessibility, and ensure that visually impaired individuals receive the necessary assistance to thrive in society.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our team on a fixed-term contract from 1 May 2025 to 31 March 2026. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to empowering individuals with disabilities and making a lasting impact in their lives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide psychosocial support to visually impaired individuals and their families.
- Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans to address clients' needs.
- Facilitate support groups, workshops, and awareness programs to enhance self-reliance and community integration.
- Advocate for the rights and inclusion of visually impaired individuals in schools and workplaces.
- Collaborate with volunteers, educators, government agencies, and NGOs to provide comprehensive support services.
- Provide counselling services to individuals dealing with challenges related to disability, trauma, or social exclusion.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of clients to ensure effective intervention strategies.
- Ensure compliance with social work ethics and standards as per the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Prepare reports, case studies, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Minimum of 1–2 years relevant experience, preferably in disability support, rehabilitation, or community work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for working with individuals with disabilities and promoting social inclusion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in case management, report writing, and intervention planning.
- Computer literacy (MS Office, database management, and virtual communication tools).
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of South African disability policies and social welfare legislation.
- Fluency in English (additional South African languages will be an advantage).

Salary:
R 14 538,00 Monthly
