Job Description
Location: Port Elizabeth (PE), with travel across South Africa
Working Hours: Mon–Thu: 07h15–16h30 | Fri: 07h15–13h30
Start Date: ASAP (Urgent Appointment – Current Technician Leaving 1 May)
We are looking for an experienced Senior Field Technician to join a leading power generation company. If you’re a Trade-Tested Electrician with strong fault-finding skills, automation knowledge, and experience in commissioning generators and hybrid systems, this is the role for you!
Key Responsibilities:
Fault Diagnostics using laptop software
Commission Generators & Hybrid Systems with the projects team
Work on Alternators, Motorized Circuit Breakers, and Changeover Switches
Support Generator Installations, Operations, and Maintenance
Manage High-Automation Systems
Possible Involvement in PLC Programming (e.g., Pump Automation)
Travel Across SA for site work (installations, diagnostics, maintenance)
Available for Standby & After-Hours Calls when required
Skills & Qualifications:
Trade-Tested Electrician (completed trade qualification)
Minimum 4 Years Post-Trade Experience
High-Automation Systems & Motorized Circuit Breakers Experience
Experience with Generator Controllers & Solar Inverters
PLC Knowledge is a plus
Proficient with Laptop-Based Diagnostics
Professional & Reliable with strong work ethics
Fluent in Afrikaans (Bonus, but not a requirement)
