Job Description

A high performance, dynamic, driven and growing company operating in the manufacturing sector in South African as well as internationally is looking for a high potential Production Shift Manager, who would thrive under pressure and has the ability to grow quickly. We are ISO 90001 and 22716 certified and fall under an international group of manufacturing facilities, thus we uphold a very high standard of manufacturing excellence. The successful candidate would need to have the necessary skills and experience to ensure these standards are maintained, while at the same time driving the businesses continuous improvement goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. People management (general worker, operators, team leaders, supervisors). Performance management, time and attendance, skills development, mindset and target driven culture drive. Continuous feedback loop – driving alignment to targets and continuous improvement.
2. Manage production performance to ensure that manufacturing KPI targets, SHEQ requirements, OEE improvements, Kaizen and business objectives are achieved
3. Monitor and control production costs (line man hours, downtime, wastage, rework)
4. Accountable for the presentation and explanation of production performance (KPI’s) daily and weekly.
5. Assist the company on its journey to manufacturing excellence within a global manufacturing group environment.
6. Drive continuous improvement and efficiency projects
7. Drive skills development programs
8. Manage equipment/assets (performance, settings, housekeeping)
9. Able to maintain and improve staff culture
10. Able to ensure SOP’s are always adhered to and are well understood within the current ISO 9001, 22716 and 14001 framework.
11. Managing HR/IR related issues amongst the manufacturing team
12. Maintain good housekeeping practices
13. Able to work shifts (Night shift bi-weekly)
14. Oversight of automatic and semi-automatic filling and packing equipment, as well as mixing and semi-automatic processing/manufacturing equipment and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS
1. Relevant tertiary qualification (Operations/ Technical/ Management)
2. Experience with Syspro/RiteScan (advantageous) or similar ERP/ WMS system (advantageous)
3. 5 years relevant and proven work experience, preferably within the FMCG sector
4. +2 years’ experience in a leadership role.
5. Proven leadership and managerial skills, including HR related processes and procedures
6. Excellent communication skills
7. Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to engage effectively with people at all levels of the business.
8. Strong work ethic – must be able to show initiative
9. Attention to detail and strong numeracy skills
10. Strong Microsoft Excel skills advantageous
11. Presentation skills advantageous
12. Ability to translate broad strategies into actions, plan tactically and execute effectively and efficiently to achieve desired results and targets

22. Have a valid drivers license and own transport
23. Able/willing to work shifts: DAY SHIFT: Monday to Friday, 07h00 to 16h30, NIGHT SHIFT: Monday to Thursday 18:00 to 06:00. Operations are a 2-shift weekly rotation. Friday nights and Saturdays are worked during peak periods and when required to support manufacturing demand.
