Job Description

Preparation for and operating of machine
• Receive Job Pack with exact indication of requirements for Laser Cutter.
• Use electronic data of drawings and designs from Processing Department
• Do the precise set up and nesting of the CNC Laser Cutter – create laser cut files in the laser software for optimal cutting speeds and yield
• Select and set up lenses based on material type and thickness
• Knowledge of shield gasses used during laser cutting operation
• Perform all dimensional inspections
• Choose optimal laser beam focal points
• Observe process and listen for indications of malfunctions
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Mark and remove cut parts from the material chamber
• Offcuts to the scrap bin
• Ensure that the correct material is land on the material charger in order to perform the required cut function
• Mark and place the off cut material according to the Sigmanest control function

Housekeeping and maintenance of tools and equipment
• Check that prescribed maintenance is performed regularly
• Keep working areas neat and tide – clean if required
• Able to do fault finding
• Report defects in tools, material and equipment

Quality control
• Inspect and measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications
• Examine completed work pieces for defects such as chipped edges and marred surfaces
• QC to verify before distribution to other Workshops
