Job Description

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for overseeing and managing the cost aspects of construction projects from inception to completion. This role involves cost estimation, contract management, procurement, and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered within budget and meet all financial and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cost Estimation and Management:

· Prepare detailed cost estimates and financial forecasts for projects.

· Develop and manage project budgets, including cost planning and financial monitoring.

· Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to achieve cost-effective solutions.

2. Contract Administration:

· Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

· Manage and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.

· Handle contract variations, change orders, and claims, addressing any disputes that arise.

3. Procurement:

· Oversee the procurement process, including preparing tender documents and evaluating bids.

· Select and manage suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring they meet project requirements and quality standards.

· Monitor procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

4. Project Coordination:

· Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure accurate cost reporting and financial planning.

· Provide expert advice on cost implications and financial impacts of project decisions.

· Ensure alignment between project scope, schedule, and budget.

5. Reporting and Documentation:

· Prepare and present regular financial reports, including cost reports, payment schedules, and budget updates.

· Maintain comprehensive and accurate project records, including cost data, contract documents, and correspondence.

· Ensure all documentation is complete and compliant with company policies and industry standards.

6. Team Leadership and Development:

· Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and other team members.

· Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring team performance and development.

· Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.

7. Compliance and Quality Assurance:

· Ensure all financial and contractual activities adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.

· Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.

8. Skills:

· Expertise in construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management.

· Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

· Proficiency in QS software and tools (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft, MS Excel).

· Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure.
