Job Description
Location: Kew, Johannesburg
Salary: Market Related
Job Summary: To oversee all the workshop operations. The ideal candidate will be an innovative problem solver with strong technical abilities and leadership skills, capable of managing staff, streamlining processes, and driving efficiencies across both areas
Key Responsibilities:
Workshop Management:
• Plan, organize, and supervise daily workshop operations daily workshop operations.
• Lead and manage workshop staff, ensuring high productivity, quality workmanship, and adherence to deadlines.
• Develop and implement efficient processes and procedures to optimize workflow and reduce bottlenecks.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and materials to ensure operational readiness and safety.
• Plan and supervise maintenance schedules and resources.
Team Leadership:
• Supervise, motivate, and manage a team
• Conduct shift briefings (when necessary), assign tasks, and ensure effective communication across teams.
• Provide hands-on support and problem-solving during challenges.
Safety and Compliance:
• Enforce all health and safety regulations at the workshop.
• Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials and equipment.
• Report any accidents, incidents, or near-misses and implement corrective measures.
Reporting and Documentation:
• Maintain accurate workshop records
• Provide detailed reports to the Directors on daily activities, challenges, and achievements.
Skills & Competencies:
• Innovative and proactive mind-set with the ability to streamline procedures.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer systems
• Proven experience in managing a workshop or production environment.
• Strong technical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
• Qualification in a related field or equivalent work experience
• Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office
