Stock / Accounts Payable Controller

Location: Durban, Briardene

A well-established retail and wholesale operation is looking for an experienced Stock / Accounts Payable Controller to take responsibility for maintaining the accuracy of stock and ensuring precise processing of supplier invoices and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:
-Stock Management:
-Review full and category stock counts by branch monthly to identify and investigate high-value discrepancies.
-Process necessary stock adjustments (e.g., slow-moving stock write-offs).
-Investigate and resolve stock queries between branches and distribution centres.
-Ensure all inter-branch transfers are acknowledged and investigate exceptions.
-Maintain stock records and ensure accessibility for future reference.

Accounts Payable:
-Process GRNs for both local and import suppliers.
-Verify that GRNs processed at branch level match supplier delivery notes and invoices.
-Reconcile supplier statements with accounts payable records, resolving discrepancies.
-Maintain supplier documentation and ensure it is readily accessible.

Adhoc Finance Support:
-Assist with various finance department functions as required.
-Cost import shipments accurately.

Requirements:
-Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role involving both stock and accounts payable.
-Solid inventory and stock control background with a sharp eye for detail.
-Comfortable working in a high-pressure retail/wholesale environment.
-Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
-Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
-Fluent in English, with professional communication both telephonically and via email.
-Able to work independently and handle pressure with professionalism.

Qualifications:
-Matric
-Bookkeeping/accounting diploma or qualification
-Stock Control certificate or diploma
