Job Description

Legal Liaison Officer Position

We are in search of a skilled and professional Legal Liaison Officer to join our head office located in Centurion

Duties and knowledge requirements:

As the legal liaison officer your duties will be but not limited to the following:

Legal Aspects:

• Address letters, correspond with, address enquiries and attend meetings with attorneys as well as relevant governing bodies (such as the NCC, FSCA, Complaints Board
• Litigation matters: research, information and drafts to attorneys representing the Company, or by special arrangement, their representatives or employees
• Drawing up and updating various contracts, agreements, mandates
• Overseeing lease agreements on behalf of the Company/Directors
• Drawing up, updating and overseeing various service agreements into which the Company may enter into
• Keeping minutes and recordings at meetings
• Overseeing, from start to finalization, various other legal documents including affidavits, acknowledgement of debt, non-disclosure agreements
• To assist with the development and implementation of better systems and procedures
• Perform any legal duties in general as are required

Client Liaison:

Client Management (sales)
• Dispute resolution (telephonically, electronically, or by arranging conference calls)
• Assisting clients with problems they may experience, and liaising with management should be proposed resolution may be beneficial to other clients
• Reporting sales trends observed while addressing client related matters to management to address with sales executives during training

Enforce purchase agreements referring to:

• Consumer Protection Act, Direct Marketing
• CT International Financiers procedures
• Client’s method of payment
• Settlement agreements when a cancellation was accepted
• Addendums to purchase agreements
• General administration enquiries from clients
• Damage control

Public Relations:
• General assistance to managers of various departments
• Addressing the media
• Assisting with all Complaints board as well as social media platform complaints

Debt Collecting:
• Assisting with templates for the different phases of correspondence
• Assist with drafting example settlement agreements
• Assist to educate agents in how to calculate settlement amounts
• Drafting, and keeping updated templates for letters of demand; final demands; SMS notifications; ITC listing notifications
• Help implement processes and procedures

Human Resources:
• Legal and Finances, work closely together to combine the Company’s Human Resource Department.
• Representing the Company at the CCMA, Department of Labor, or other governing bodies
• Will attend meetings with the sales force on daily
• To work with Finance to ensure that all employees have valid employment contracts and update where needed
• To assist the director/s with all labor and legal matters with all companies, estates and personal matters if needed
• To ensure that contracts are amended in terms of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act
• Ensuring that addendums are done as and when it becomes necessary or instructed
• Disciplinary processes and hearings
• Ensure Disciplinary Code and Grievance procedures are in line with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act
• Chair Disciplinary Hearings and do the necessary report after the hearing with verdict
• To issue warnings
• Draft letters regarding general office matters of a HR matter
• To generate Mutual Separation Agreement when an employee resigns; Counseling Sessions with Employees when needed

Other Requirements:
• Relevant qualifications needed
• Must be proficient in English and Afrikaans
• A minimum of 10 years relevant experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Must live in or around Centurion
• Excellent communication skills
• Highly analytical with a strong attention to detail
• Outstanding managerial and negotiation skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Ability to work under high pressure
• Excellent client development and customer service skills
• High proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent research skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong focus on execution and how legal activities impact on business outcomes
