Job Description

Assistant Financial Manager
Our client currently has an opportunity for an Assistant Financial Manager to be responsible for overseeing accounting activities and ensuring that ledgers accurately reflect money coming in and out of the company. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring that the payroll and related functions are processed and maintained accurately.
Responsibilities Duties & Tasks

Accounting Functions

• Assisting Financial Manager in preparation and reporting on monthly Management Accounts.
• Perform monthly Water & Electricity Recons. Investigate and report on variances.
• Monthly journals between 4 bodies Corporate for shared costs.
• Monthly Bank Reconciliations for Current and Investment Accounts.
• Monthly Reconciliation of loan and balance sheet accounts.
• Maintenance of the fixed asset register for all 4 bodies corporate.
• Assisting the Financial Manager in preparation, reconciliation and submission on bi-monthly VAT returns.
• Management of 2 Levies Clerks and ensuring their efficient and effective performance.
• Preparation of annual financial statements for review by Financial Manager.
• Assisting Financial manager with preparation of the Annual Audit file.
Payroll & Payroll Related Functions
• Processing of monthly Payroll on Pastel VIP.
• Loading payment of salaries online banking.
• Preparation and submission of EMP201 returns.
• Preparation and submission of of EMP501 returns.
• Preparation of annual COID returns.
• Maintaining and updating staff files, including recording leave & sick leave.
• Ensuring the correct completion of relevant forms and monitoring any additions or leavers from the Provident Fund.
• Assisting Financial Manager with all employment equity related functions including the attendance of meetings, planning and implementation.

Supplier Accounts
• Posting of supplier/one off invoices and payments onto Pastel.
• Reconciliation of supplier statements to Pastel supplier detailed ledger.
• Loading of payment of Supplier/one off payments via FNB online banking.

Experience and qualifications
• BCOMPT Accounting OR BCOM Financial Management
• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Pastel and Pastel VIP experience
• Strong Excel skills
