Position Overview:

Our five-star boutique hotel, nestled on a picturesque wine farm in Somerset West, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance and Pool Attendant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the hotel’s facilities, including the swimming pool, ensuring that all areas are kept in pristine condition. This role is crucial to upholding the luxury standards expected by our guests, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment throughout the property.

Key Responsibilities:

General Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks across the property, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting. Address any repair needs promptly to prevent disruptions to guest services.
Pool Maintenance: Ensure the hotel’s swimming pool is always clean, safe, and operational. This includes daily cleaning, monitoring water quality, maintaining proper chemical balance, and ensuring all poolside equipment is in good working order.
Groundskeeping: Assist with the upkeep of the hotel grounds, including pathways, gardens, and outdoor areas. Ensure all areas are aesthetically pleasing and free from hazards.
Equipment Management: Maintain and organize maintenance tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good condition and available when needed.
Preventive Maintenance: Implement and adhere to a preventive maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of hotel assets.
Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations. Report any safety hazards or concerns to the Facilities Manager immediately.
Guest Interaction: Respond to guest requests or issues related to maintenance with professionalism and a focus on guest satisfaction. Ensure minimal disruption to guests during maintenance activities.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as housekeeping and front of house, to coordinate maintenance tasks and address any issues that may arise.
Emergency Response: Be available for emergency maintenance tasks as needed, including after-hours calls.
Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance, preferably within a hospitality or luxury setting. Experience with pool maintenance is highly desirable.
Skills: Proficiency in a range of maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and pool care. Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment efficiently.
Certifications: Pool maintenance certification or relevant training is a plus. Familiarity with health and safety regulations is required.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit and able to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Personal Attributes: Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to maintenance, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and functionality.
