Job Description

Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering (George)
A leading Civil Engineering Contractors Company in George is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor for their successful team as soon as possible. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the estimation, costing, and contractual management of construction projects. You will work closely with senior surveyors and project managers to ensure accurate cost projections and financial control throughout the construction process.

Requirements

• A BTech / National diploma in Quantity Surveying or similar
• Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience working as a Site QS for contractors
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans
• Fully computer literate - including latest industry software and tools
• Competencies: Professional excellent communication
• Innovative excellent problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail plus accuracy
• Above average organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Able to meet deadlines
• The ideal candidate will be residing in the George area or in the process of relocating as this is an immediate start
Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
• Conduct accurate cost analysis, estimation, and forecasting for construction projects
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to review and negotiate project proposals
• Prepare Bills of Quantities and other tender documentation to ensure fair and transparent tenders
• Conduct site visits to assess progress and ensure compliance with contractual specifications
• Assist in the preparation of progress reports, change orders, and payment certificates
• Monitor expenditures to ensure contracts adhere to budgets
• Maintain accurate project records, including measurement records and cost documentation
• Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and technologies
• Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills
• Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications accurately
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with construction contracts and relevant legal regulations
• Proactive and self-motivated attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow in the field of quantity surveying
