Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Claims Management: Oversee the entire claims lifecycle, including filing, documentation, adjudication, and follow-ups. Ensure seamless claim processes and compliance with industry standards and internal protocols.
Client Engagement: Serve as a trusted adviser to our clients, answering their questions, addressing concerns, and providing expert guidance. Communicate regularly with stakeholders to ensure they are updated on claim statuses.
Quality Assurance: Implement robust audit procedures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of claims. Maintain meticulous records in XPlan and keep all data well-organized for quick retrieval and reporting.
Regulatory Compliance: Uphold all FAIS (Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services) regulations and RE5 requirements. Keep abreast of legislative changes and ensure that company policies are in full alignment with local regulations and industry best practices.
Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with management to improve claim workflows, reduce turnaround times, and enhance customer satisfaction metrics. Provide insights and recommendations that help shape company-wide policies and strategies.
Team Mentorship: Offer guidance and support to junior consultants, sharing best practices and helping them develop their skill sets. Foster an atmosphere of learning and professional growth within the team.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Insurance, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
Licensing and Certification:
RE5 Certificate: Required for compliance with South African insurance industry standards.
FAIS Accreditation: Demonstrable compliance with FAIS fit and proper requirements.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in XPlan and other relevant insurance or financial software.
Strong computer literacy, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
Industry Experience: A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience handling claims in the short-term or long-term insurance sectors. Exposure to complex and specialized claims will be highly advantageous.
Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to articulate complex information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Analytical Aptitude: Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all claims are handled efficiently and effectively.
Leadership Abilities: Capable of mentoring others, resolving conflicts, and fostering a team-oriented environment.
