Maintenance Supervisor

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Supervisor with a National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering to oversee the maintenance and repair of mining equipment. The successful candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in equipment maintenance within the mining sector, ensuring operational efficiency and equipment reliability while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership

Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians and artisans.
Plan, schedule, and delegate maintenance tasks to ensure maximum productivity.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
Equipment Maintenance and Repairs

Oversee routine, preventative, and breakdown maintenance of mining equipment, such as crushers, conveyors, drill rigs, loaders, and haul trucks.
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical or electrical faults in equipment and recommend effective solutions.
Ensure adherence to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards for repairs and maintenance.
Planning and Scheduling

Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
Monitor maintenance backlogs and prioritize tasks based on operational needs.
Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to align maintenance schedules with production demands.
Safety and Compliance

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain and promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
Inventory and Cost Management

Monitor spare parts inventory and liaise with procurement for timely stock replenishment.
Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Ensure proper documentation of all maintenance activities and equipment performance.
Continuous Improvement

Analyze equipment performance trends and recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency.
Implement best practices in maintenance and asset management.
Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background:

National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (essential).
Experience:

5-10 years of hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
Strong leadership experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
Experience working in open-pit or underground mining operations is advantageous.
Technical Skills:

Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
Familiarity with hydraulic systems, gearboxes, pumps, and electrical circuits.
Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
