Job Description
Our client a Blue chip Manufacturing company based in Vanderbijlpark (Vaal Triangle) has a vacancy for a qualified Millwright with the following:
Qualification & Experience:
• Grade 12/N3
• Must be a qualified Red Seal Artisan Millwright
• Familiar with a range of tools and equipment, such as lathes, milling and drilling machines, thermal heating, cutting and welding equipment.
• At least six months of related experience with production machinery, whether acquired in-company or elsewhere, highly preferred.
• Proven experience as a Millwright.
• Hands-on experience with equipment and machinery.
• Strong communication and conceptual skills.
• Good eye for details.
• Needs to have excellent manual dexterity, as the job involves the regular handling of small parts.
• Must have extensive knowledge of the machinery they will be expected to operate.
Purpose of this position:
• This person will provide electrical/mechanical services with a specific responsibility regarding installing, repairing, fault finding.
• Maintaining and upgrading electrical/mechanical systems and equipment.
• Ensuring that tools and materials are available at job site.
• Millwright to be involved with mechanical projects and daily schedules.
• Using tools, such as welding or hydraulic bolters to align and replace a machine’s individual parts.
• This job requires flexibility and dexterity, as Millwrights you lift, stand, and crouch through the day.
• In addition, need to be comfortable working around large equipment like cranes, good with tools and able to read schematics.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Installing new machinery.
• Repairing and replacing defective machine parts.
• Ensuring machines work properly
• Setting up, maintaining, and repairing intricate and sometimes massive machines.
• Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations.
• Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime.
• Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repair, or installing new parts.
• Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correction potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods standing, crouching, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling in order to perform job.
• To work in a team during yearly December Shutdowns
