Graduate Investment Planner

Purpose:

We’re looking for a young graduate who wishes to establish a career in the investment and financial planning industry. We are currently looking to recruit a recent finance graduate who possesses a mix of independence, passion and drive. As an investment graduate you will go through a training programme consisting of learning about investment markets and financial planning, as well as gaining on-the-job experience through advising direct clients, while supervised by a team of qualified Client Portfolio Managers. The role is focused on building relationships with and providing investment / financial planning advice to clients. Successful graduates will have the opportunity of a clear career path and the training tools / resources to continue to develop and grow their knowledge of industry topics such as investment markets, tax planning, financial planning, retirement rules and estate planning.

Competencies Required:

The suitable candidate MUST possess:
Matric and Undergraduate Diploma OR Degree is essential.
Own reliable vehicle and driver’s license.
Clear credit and criminal record.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills (English required and Afrikaans advantageous).
The aim to study a postgraduate in financial planning or investment management.
Ambition to qualify as a Certified Financial Planner will be advantageous.
A willingness to learn and develop themselves continuously over time.
Eagerness to build a career in the investment industry.
Capacity to manage time effectively.
The job is office-based, not remote.

Duties And Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will need to:
Work as part of a professional team in our office in Newlands.
Assist the team of Client Portfolio Managers.
Prepare Investment Proposals.
Compile Portfolio Analyses.
Contact prospective clients.
Follow an established onboarding process to bring on new clients.
Continuously learn about the markets, tax regulations and different investment vehicles.
Handle client queries.
Assist in keeping records of new and existing clients.
Monitor FICA compliance when onboarding new clients.
