Key Performance Areas:
Ensure overall implementation and maintenance of HSE measures in the work area:
• Actively contribute to creating a safe working environment
• Ensure discipline and compliance amongst team and subcontractors
• Issue NCR's where required to correct and prevent non conformance
• Report all incidents and near misses to Line Manager and HSE Officer
• Ensure good housekeeping practices are maintained
• Attend fortnightly HSE meetings
• Conduct weekly toolbox talks with teams
• Complete required checklists and register as legal appointments
• Actively contribute to achieving site specific HSE objectives
Taking complete responsibility and accountability for the overall quality compliance of all areas under his/her control:
• Extensive knowledge of the project specifications
• Complete comprehension of the company quality system as well as the associated compliance documentation i.e. project quality control plans, work instructions and associated checklists and registers
• Constantly assuring and comparing activities against the area specifications
• Completion of documentation as contemplated by quality control plans and relevant checklist
• Raise NCR's
• Active participation with project teaming terms of the effectiveness of control measures
Drive the construction process on site:
• Supervise to the contract’s financial provisions
• Identify and escalate delays, variations, changes and new items and monitors ongoing issues
• Identify and recommend opportunities for profit enhancement / waste reduction using value engineering principles where possible
• Advise the Site Agent and Quantity Surveyor of any additional costs incurred on the project
• Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance to increase efficiency and safety
• Proactively drive progress of the works, challenging methods to maximise progress and minimize costs
Execute the project plan and program:
• Execute the works within his/her delegated section in accordance with the layout provided by the Contract Manager/Site Agent
• Ensure the site establishment is maintained to the standard expected from the company
• Study the project method statement to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project and the construction process, materials to be used and sequencing of works
• Study and understand and execute the project drawings and details prior to commencing the works to gain an in depth understanding of the project, project layout, project requirements, details, finishes, services, etc
• Implement the program, project and project details and requirements as per the sequence of the works within his/her delegated section of works
• Know the interim completion dates, the practical, works and final completion dates
• Setout, monitor and manage sequence of the works, ensuring a logical sequence of works and minimise abortive works or re-works
• Order materials timeously as per program requirements
• Ensure that all plant, particularly hired plant, is used effectively and returned promptly
• Supply information to resolve disputes if they arise
• Identify, minimise and flag areas of risk and dispute
• Monitor progress of the works within his/her delegated section of works to ensure the project program is being achieved or exceeded
• Notify the Contract Manager / Site agent of any slippage within his/her delegated section of work and assist in the drawing up and implementation of a recovery program to recover time lost
• Notify the Contract Manager and Site Agent of any delays and identifies areas for improvement
Collaborate with stakeholders and ensures good relations:
• Supervise all sub-contractors in all aspects of the work (HSE, Quality, housekeeping, program, sequence of works, timekeeping)
• Attend all sub-contractor meetings
• Liaise with the project QS on all financial matters
• Function as the main point of contact for all site personnel on the project
• Provide expertise to build sustainable relationships with key parties
• Monitors the progress of all sub-contractors and promotes and maintains constructive relationships with all parties involved in the contract, ensuring good communication and clear expectations
• Liaise with professional design team on details
Supervise workforce, people development and healthy industrial relations:
• Supervise approved subcontractors and specialist suppliers; monitors their progress and take appropriate action to address underperformance
• Develop and help construction staff and peers in area of expertise by sharing information, knowledge and best practices to achieve team goals
• Maintain up to date technical knowledge and participates in planned activities that are appropriate for own development
• Supervise own and sub-contractors' labour and implement the company’s disciplinary code and procedures when necessary; escalate serious issues
• Monitor and enforce working hours for own and sub-contractor labour and completes and submit accurate daily time sheets
• Contribute to team success by ensuring team commitment and cohesion; value individual contributions and shows respect for others
