Job Description

JUNIOR TECHNOLOGIST
Location: Roodeplaat, Pretoria
Offer: R 22 500 CTC
Closing date: 31 July 2025

QUALIFICATION ESSENTIAL: B.Sc. / B Tech / Diploma with microbiology, plant pathology, biochemistry or similar as main subjects (SAQA recognized tertiary qualification)

Own vehicle Essential
Minimum Technical Knowledge: Microbiology, Plant Pathology, analytical methods (conventional microbiological, PCR-based, serology (ELISA-based)
Minimum Experience: None required
Minimum skill: Reading and writing English, basic laboratory methods.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Selected and agreed upon test aspects in Virus ELISA laboratory in compliance with the Quality Management System, ISO/IEC 17025, SANAS, regulatory requirements and requirements from the client.
Performance of routine and diagnostic ELISA tests. This includes but is not limited to:
oBuffer preparation,
oCoating of plates,
oLoading of samples,
oWashing of plates,
oApplication of conjugate and substrate,
Verification of controls in agreement with the test schedule determined by the technologist/supervisor
In the execution of research projects, assist the virus laboratory technologist in the performance of applicable experimental work as per project proposal
Liaising with local and/or foreign visitors when so requested
Attendance of forums, symposia, seminars and workshops as recommended / requested by management
