An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer with an eco-friendly, multi-award-winning company specializing in on-site, dry sanitation toilet systems that operate without the need for water or chemicals. These innovative systems are designed for the benefit of diverse communities and can be installed virtually anywhere. This is a Supportive role to the Heads of Departments (HODs) in the task of buying. Identify suppliers that can deliver manufacturing components which meet the required design parameters and quality to fulfil the company warranty statement on products sold. This is extended to sourcing suppliers that will enable the company to complete the onsite installation of the companies Non-Sewered Sanitation Systems to a high standard of quality. Build relationships with suppliers to understand their quality standards, capacity and delivery lead times.

Minimum Requirements:
Own transport required
National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or similar
Minimum of 3 years in a buying role within the manufacturing industry and project environments.
Experience sourcing suppliers and parts in African countries
Knowledge in Water components and Electrical components
Excellent knowledge in ISO9001 standards
Strong numeracy and financial acumen
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Assertiveness and strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms and pricing
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Analytical skills to assess market trends, supplier performance, and cost analysis
Proactive and resourceful
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Pastel Accounting
Excellent knowledge in Procurement policies and procedures
Quality control procedures with a working knowledge of ISO9001
Supply chain fundamentals, including inventory management, lead times, and distribution channels
Detail-oriented and committed to quality
Highly organized, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
Trustworthy and ethical in supplier interactions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Resilient and adaptable to handle changing priorities and urgent requests
Regular interaction in a factory environment
Occasional site visits to installations in urban and rural locations across South Africa, alongside Business Development Consultants
Potential for occasional travel in Africa

Duties and Responsibilities:
Continuously seek new suppliers to improve the supply chain
Identify regional suppliers, such as contractors and solar providers, for installation support
Source regional suppliers for water deliveries
Analyse and evaluate suppliers regularly according to ISO9001 standards
Maintain supplier contact information and contracts
Track supplier lead times and share with stores
Obtain multiple quotes where possible
Select suppliers that meet company objectives of design parameters, quality, price, and service
Collaborate with the order placer to choose the appropriate supplier
Acquire necessary authority to place orders
Receive purchase orders from company departments, capture them in the accounting software, and communicate with suppliers
Follow up on purchase orders by reviewing outstanding orders regularly
Receive stock with the stores team to ensure quality standards are met
Follow up with suppliers on any quality issues
Maintain records of warranty policies and certificates for received items
Handle warranty administration and documentation with suppliers
Monitor the movement of warranty stock between suppliers and the company
Communicate professionally with all suppliers
Treat suppliers with dignity and respect
Build strong relationships across the company
Share supplier feedback and provide input on necessary changes
Follow all company policies and procedures
