Job Description
This intern will assist in the day-to-day operations of the supply chain department including procurement, inventory management and data analysis.
Roles and Responsibilities
Supply Chain Management
• Support the development and implementation of supply chain strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute innovative ideas to enhance supply chain processes.
• Assist in managing relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external to ensure efficient workflow.
Inventory Management
• Work closely with cross functional teams to ensure materials are accurately presented and monitored.
• Ensure the system is updated regularly with incoming and outgoing inventory data.
• Create and analyse reports to identify areas of improvement and make recommendations to increase efficiencies.
• Provide support with periodic stock counts and perform regular audits to ensure data integrity.
• Make recommendations for potential new suppliers through market research.
• Communicate with suppliers to track order status, resolve issues, and ensure accuracy and timely delivery of goods.
• Record any discrepancies or damages and communicate them to the capacity manager for resolution.
Purchase Order Management
• Provide support to the team with regards to ordering of raw materials, components ensuring the correct procedures are followed and all required documents are completed.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of relevant documentation, including purchase orders, invoices and shipping documents.
• Proactively manage purchase orders, monitor progress and ensure alignment with budget constraints and order deadlines.
Requirements:
• Relevant tertiary qualification in supply chain or operations management.
• Proficient in MS Office – with intermediate Excel skills, such as pivot tables and lookup functions.
• Excellent time management, organisational and communicative skills.
• Must be driven, proactive and able to take initiative.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Attentions to detail, crucial for managing inventory, purchase orders and data accuracy.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles could be advantageous for process improvement initiatives.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills, critical when working in a team environment with cross functional roles.
Stipend: R7 000
