Seeking an experienced Resettlement and Social Specialist to support the RDP housing and clinic construction project in Chintsa, Eastern Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for resettlement planning, stakeholder engagement, social impact assessments, and housing subsidy beneficiary administration to ensure the smooth transition and integration of affected communities. Candidates that meet all requirements and are available to start by no later than 20 March 2025 are invited to apply

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Urban Planning, Development Studies, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in resettlement planning, stakeholder engagement, and social impact assessments within human settlement projects.
Strong understanding of housing policies, subsidy administration, and land tenure frameworks in South Africa.
Experience working with government entities, community organizations, and project stakeholders.
Knowledge of South African legal and regulatory frameworks related to resettlement and housing subsidies.
Proficiency in social impact assessment methodologies, conflict resolution, and community development planning.
Ability to communicate effectively and manage sensitive social issues and community expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement resettlement action plans to support the relocation of affected communities.
Conduct social impact assessments (SIA) to identify and mitigate project-related social risks.
Engage with community leaders, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth resettlement processes.
Oversee the housing subsidy beneficiary administration process to ensure accurate and fair allocation.
Work with government departments and local municipalities to ensure compliance with housing policies and regulations.
Address grievances and disputes related to resettlement, housing allocation, and land tenure.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of social development programs within the project.
Prepare and submit resettlement reports, impact assessments, and stakeholder engagement updates.
