Hadassah Interiors is a boutique furniture manufacturer based in Bellville, Cape Town, specialising in bespoke and custom-designed furniture pieces. We are seeking a dynamic Production Manager with a solid background in furniture design and manufacturing to join our growing team.
This is more than just a managerial role — we’re looking for someone who is passionate about craftsmanship, thrives in a hands-on production environment, and is eager to nurture the next generation of furniture artisans through our in-house student training programme.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the end-to-end production of custom furniture pieces, ensuring quality, precision, and client satisfaction.
• Interpret design briefs and job cards, guiding the team to bring unique concepts to life.
• Manage workshop staff, allocating tasks, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring smooth daily operations.
• Collaborate with clients and the internal design team on developing custom pieces, including technical drawings and pattern making.
• Facilitate practical training sessions for students enrolled in our furniture manufacturing programme, covering key disciplines such as:
o Upholstery techniques
o Frame construction
o Use and maintenance of relevant tools and machinery
• Monitor inventory of materials and consumables, manage purchasing, and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely procurement.
• Maintain safety, quality, and compliance standards within the workshop.
Requirements:
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in furniture manufacturing and design, with hands-on experience in custom work.
• Proficient in furniture construction, upholstery, pattern making, and workshop tools.
• Experience mentoring or training others in a practical workshop environment (bonus if with students or apprentices).
• Skilled in interpreting design drawings and translating them into production-ready formats.
• Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc.) is an advantage.
• A genuine passion for furniture design and a commitment to sharing knowledge and uplifting others in the craft.
